Oyinlola praises Sterling Bank over Kwara Open
Nigeria Golf Federation president Olagunsoye Oyinlola has praised Sterling Bank Plc for its contribution to sports development in the country.
Oyinlola, who spoke at the closing ceremony of the 5th Kwara State Golf Open in Ilorin on Sunday, said Sterling Bank’s sponsorship of golf had helped the growth of the sport in the country.
Senior Regional Manager, Sterling Bank, Ademola Adeyemi, the Director of PGA of Nigeria, Mr. Samson Lawal and the Captain, Ilorin Golf Club, Olayiwola Abdulmalik, were among the personalities on the occasion.
Sunday Olapade shot a brilliant 277, 11 under par over 72 holes to win the tournament. He also won the lion’s share of N5m purse at the open shooting.
He defeated Ghana’s Amos Korblah by five shots to the second place while Lagos-based Chidi Tobias tied Abuja-based Oche Odoh for the third place.
Former Osun State governor Oyinlola hailed Olapade for winning the title.
The NGF boss said, “Sunday Olapade stumbled on the game by virtue of the MicCom golf facility built in Ada by Tunde Ponnle; where he lived.”
