Don’t rest on your laurels, Rohr tells Eagles

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr  says next year’s World Cup in Russia will be a bigger challenge for the Super Eagles.

Nigeria finished top of World Cup qualifying Group B with 14 points from six matches, six points clear of nearest rivals Zambia.

“Now we cannot rest on our  laurels because there is a bigger challenge ahead of us,”  Sorenigeria.com quoted Rohr as saying on Sunday.

“We have to prepare better and focus even more as we get set for the World Cup next year.”

The former Gabon  coach said the Eagles  made it to their sixth World Cup because they paid attention to the smallest details.

Rohr said, “From the time the draw was made for the group series of the qualifiers, we knew that in a difficult group like the one we were in, the difference between success and failure could be down to little things that most people would take for granted, but I am happy that the NFF were very professional, passionate and committed to the cause.

“Their great planning and arrangement made the players to focus on the football only, so we got the best out of them.”

The draw for next year’s Mundial will be staged in Moscow on December 1.
