2017 Australian open: Venus and Serena Williams to meet in ninth Grand Slam final

For the record ninth time in history, two American sisters Venus and Serena Williams will meet in a Grand Slam final as the duo will battle for glory at the final of the 2017 Australian open.

It was in 2009 that 36-year-old Venus last made it to a final, but she produced a mouthwatering performance in the semi-final of the 2017 Australian open beating fellow American Coco Vandeweghe 6-7 (3-7) 6-2 6-3.

On the other hand, Serena, 35, beat unseeded Croat Mirjana Lucic-Baroni 6-2 6-1 in the second semi-final played in Melbourne.

It would also be a seventh Australian Open victory for the younger Williams sister, while Venus hopes to win an eighth major title, first in Melbourne and first since Wimbledon in 2008.

The two American sisters will face each other in the Grand Slam final on Saturday, January 28, 2017 and it will be the first time since Wimbledon 2009 when Serena won in straight sets
